Property Considerations

The tree canopy within our local neighborhoods are of the defining features of the area — and one of the biggest maintenance challenges. Mature oaks and tulip poplars produce enormous volumes of leaves that collect in deep drifts against fences, foundations, and low spots.

Many properties in our service area have planting beds filled with shrubs and perennials that catch and hold leaves. Simply blowing the lawn is not enough — the beds need detailing too, or the leaves trapped in the plantings will smother the shrubs and harbor pests.

Sloped properties, which are common in our area, add another challenge: leaves collect at the bottom of slopes and in drainage swales, where they can block water flow and create drainage problems if not cleared.

Seasonal Considerations

  • October through January is peak leaf season in Northeast Atlanta. Different tree species drop at different times, so the season comes in waves rather than all at once.

  • Early fall cleanups catch the first wave before it buries the lawn. Mid-season visits keep up with the ongoing drop.

  • A final winter cleanup in January or February clears the last of the leaves before spring growth begins.

  • Spring cleanups address winter debris — branches blown down in storms, accumulated leaves that settled over winter, and bed litter before new growth starts.

  1. We walk the property to assess the leaf volume and identify problem areas — fence corners, bed edges, drainage paths.

  2. Our crew uses blowers and rakes to consolidate leaves, working from the perimeter inward.

  3. We clear beds carefully to avoid damaging shrubs and perennials.

  4. Leaves are loaded onto tarps and hauled off-site, or bagged for curbside pickup depending on your preference and local rules.

  5. We finish with a blow-off of all paved surfaces.

Leaf Removal & Yard Cleanup FAQs

  • Leaf removal means we collect and haul the leaves off your property. Leaf mulching means we shred the leaves into fine pieces with a mower and let them decompose into the lawn as a natural soil amendment. Mulching works well when leaf volume is moderate and the grass is still growing. When the volume is heavy, removal is the better choice because even mulched leaves can mat down and smother the grass.

  • For properties under a heavy canopy, we typically recommend two to three visits between October and January. The first catches the early drop before it buries the lawn, a mid-season visit keeps up with the ongoing fall, and a final cleanup clears the last of it before spring. Properties with lighter tree cover may only need one or two visits. For customers on our weekly, and bi-weekly maintenance plans this service is included.

  • Yes. Many customers looking at add additional usable area within their property combine leaf removal with bed weeding, shrub trimming, or mulch installation in a single visit. Bundling is efficient because the crew is already on-site and the cleanup is handled in one pass. We can discuss options during the estimate.

  • Yes, we remove ground-level fallen branches and seasonal storm debris as part of a yard cleanup. If a storm has brought down large limbs or whole trees, that requires a tree company with the equipment to handle woody material safely. We handle everything at ground level.

  • We haul them off-site for composting or disposal, or we can bag them for your curbside collection if your municipality offers leaf pickup. We discuss the option that works best for your area during the estimate.

  • It depends on your tree canopy. If you have heavy mature trees overhead, a single cleanup will look great for about two weeks before the next round buries the property again. For those properties, recurring seasonal visits are the better investment. Lighter-canopy properties may do fine with one or two visits per season.
